Congresswoman Lauren Boebert on Thursday introduced legislation to repeal the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the recent Senate gun control bill President Biden signed into law.

“The so-called ‘Bipartisan Safer Communities Act’ tramples on the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens and will have no significant impact in stopping mass shootings and deterring gun violence,” Boebert told Breitbart News. “This poorly written law was negotiated behind closed doors by a small group of Senate RINOs that do not reflect the interests and values of the American people.”

In particular, Boebert takes issue with the bill introduction. No one in Congress had a chance to weigh the consequences for law-abiding gun owners or offer changes to the bill. Instead, the Senate voted a couple of hours after Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) struck a deal.

“Shockingly, this bill was rushed to the floor a few days after introduction and didn’t receive a single congressional hearing or markup despite the legal implications for millions of gun owners in America,” Boebert explained to the conservative news outlet.

Even though Second Amendment supporters and gun control advocates could find common ground on training armed school guards, the bill went a step further. Despite warnings from gun rights groups, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act focuses on Red Flag laws.

“Rather than hardening building security and allowing resources to be spent on training and staffing schools with more armed personnel, this bill seeks to bribe states with promises of Washington money for adopting red-flag gun seizure laws,” Boebert said. “The Shall Not Be Infringed Act fully repeals this unconstitutional bill and defends the Second Amendment rights of all Americans.”

The Outcome of Boebert’s Gun Bill

Sadly, it’s highly unlikely Congresswoman Boebert’s gun bill will gain any traction.

Republicans fell into the “we have to do something!” trap that frequently takes place after a mass shooting. Everyone rushed to say they “did something,” but no one thought about the consequences of those actions.

The typical RINOs in the Senate – Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitt Romney – voted in favor of this garbage. What’s even worse? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell provided cover for other Republicans to vote for this bill.

Every time we give the gun control crowd an inch, they take a mile.
